Do you mind giving us an update on your life right now? Jobs, Family, priorities for 2020?

Right now life’s pretty good. I have recently started working for myself as a builder on the Tutukaka Coast. It allows me to work hard until the conditions are right for surfing or diving. When they are I sneak in a couple of days of that if I'm not too busy with work of course...

Where do you spend most of your time?

I'm always chasing fish or waves. I tend to spend most of my time in Tutukaka Northland NZ, or further up north on the coast.

What makes you want to surf big waves?

Ah, surfing big waves... I'm not too sure I don’t surf anything 'massive massive' haha, but I like solid waves. I guess it’s the rush and challenge that pushes me further and further. 

Also getting the skis out is always an adventure with a good crew.

What motivates you? 

For me it's all about good breaks, getting away from the crowds and surfing with mates. 

Where are the places you want to travel and surf next? 

Not sure there are so many spots but Mexico looks quite tempting, although I'll be happy anywhere the waves are good.

What does surfing mean to you?

One time I knew I wanted to do this forever was when we were younger. Getting dropped at the beach all day with a packed lunch and mates, haha but that didn’t last.. adulthood was inevitable. 

When people say “living the dream” what’s your version of the dream?

Living the dream. I’m not too sure but I guess just doing all the things that make you happy. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people, not worrying too much about what's going on in the world, or worrying about what other people are doing. Just living out your own journey and having a great time doing it!
